The LMRL set the pace at the 2008 Provincial Championships held in Quesnel ("A" division) and Surrey ("B" and "C" divisions). LMRL associations won eight of a possible ten gold medals with Delta leading the charge with three golds in the tough and competitive "A" division. The LMRL board has approved a motion to restore tiering at the Belle and Open divisions. In previous years, teams in the Belle and Open divisions played in a single division despite an abundance of teams and significant disparities in level of play. For 2008-09, tiering at the Belle and Open divisions will conform to LMRL policy and will be subject to the same review, assessment and placement as in the Petite through Junior divisions. ...more

After suffering a season ending knee injury at the 2007 Canadian Ringette Championships in Halifax, Langley and LMRL AA Belle ringette player Tori Gunning decided she couldn't stay away. The University of Calgary "Dinos" ringette team has just won the University Challenge Cup (Tier 1) this weekend for the 3rd consecutive year. Two home-grown AA ringette players from the Lower Mainland, Laura Dobell (captain) and Kara McLeod on defense and Erin Berkowski (forward), helped the UoC Dinos beat University of Alberta in a 2-0 win in the finals. ...more
